No.5 St Paul's Square
Completed in June 2008, Liverpool's No.5 St Paul's Square is the latest addition to the mixed use regeneration scheme we are working on in the city's new commercial area. The distinctive façades of the eight-storey building protect 12,400 sq m of Grade A office space.
The building’s elevations can be read as an essay in contextualism, each responding both to its neighbouring buildings and to orientation-related environmental factors. It's only by circling the building that you can read the full story. The smallest, most hard working, elevation is a patterned glass assembly described on Skyscrapercity.com as “better than the wallpaper on Holly Oaks”.
The sustainability credentials are of the highest order too. The innovative treatment of the glazed façades significantly reduces solar gain. Heat recovery from a bore hole contributes to the building achieving 10% renewable energy use, delivering energy savings in excess of 25% in comparison to similar buildings.
