Nos.2 & 3 St Paul's Square
Nos.2 & 3 St Paul’s Square are part of the first phase of our work on a large-scale mixed use project in the heart of Liverpool’s new commercial quarter, which is being developed under a wider masterplan. The St Paul's Square scheme includes the design of a new public square, three commercial buildings, residential accommodation and a 400-space car park.
No.2 St Paul's Square is the residential building, with 50 apartments spread over 11 storeys. At ground floor level, retail units and a restaurant face the new square and are designed to help bring it to life. Adjacent, at No.3 St Paul's Square, is the car park. The visual impact of its exterior has been softened by the use of timber slats set in a striking pattern.
Fundamental to our approach for the whole scheme is a commitment to providing Liverpool with buildings that complement the city's built heritage. We set out to understand the local vernacular in order to reference the strong architectural language that underpins so many of its buildings. As a result, both of these buildings sit well in their urban context.
